Thursdays. The day the cleaning lady comes and erases the damage the Bub and I spent six days creating. It is a day when the lawn is manicured, my sheets are clean, and the laundry is sorted and put away. The one day a week I feel that I am not drowning in household chores and domestic bondage. I know that seems lush to brag on, but you have to understand that I am a total pig and I have spawned a total pig. The fact that someone is willing to come in here and wade through our mess is a blessing and the greatest gift my husband gives to me every week. Seriously, when the Hub loses his job (knock on wood) my little angel Rosa will be the last thing to go, right after food and medicine. Rosa who spoils the Bub with kisses. Rosa who is the foster mother of two of our finches. Rosa who after 35 years of living in the states is studying to take her citizenship exam next month. God bless her.
Today, amidst this heavenly sanitation, I have 11 butterflies all hanging upside down in chrysalis form... mutating from pudgy little parsley hogs into glorious swallowtails. The finches have a new cage to delight in (that is if birds can in fact delight in a bamboo prison). The turtle has a new 20 gallon playground scored at the Goodwill for $7 instead of the $79 the pet store wanted minus the cell phone I dropped into it that took $69 to replace. My cat is regal and happy and purrs constantly. Who knows what the two fish are thinking, but you know... it's only three seconds before they think the same thing over again, so their opinion doesn't really count. All is well. I think I'm, aghast, actually happy. Go figure.
